SINGING WITH A FISH [8]

THE DOOR OF THE HEART
I unlock the door of the heart
and snap the vapour of wisdom.
The sword of soreness
is slashing my soul.
How potent the truth is
not ever scorched by the blaze.
The door of the heart
is the entry to self-essence.
By DARMA MOHAMMAD
[Translated and edited from Bahasa Melayu by the author.]
The poem PINTU KALBU (THE DOOR OF THE HEART) was previously published in DAKWAH, MARCH 2000 issue.

ddd,

Your nice words are much and much appreciated. Welcome!

I just write what and how I wish to write.

Thank you ddd.

Sdr.scarlet,

rauf,

First of all, I admire your journeys. Those journeys are entries to human hearts and souls.

You've opened the door of life widely.I'll try to do same.

Thank you, Rauf.

Please convey my best regards to your friend (him or her) from SMSI I, Pasir Mas. Yes, we are living in a very small world; just a click away.

Happy teaching.

Thank you.

Pak Darma,

I don't know why, but your title `singing with the fish' keep on reminding me of two great books;

Old Man and The Sea byErnest Hemingway & How To Travel with a Salmon by Umberto Eco. :)

ufukhati said...

En.Jiwa,

1. I've read both of them.
2. The title must be creative and catchy. You ever heard the following titles been used by the famous authors eg :
-Man Are From Mars and Women Are From Venus (John Gray)
-The Five People You Meet In Heaven (Mitch Albon)
-The Call Of The Toad (Gunter Grass)
-The House of Sand and Fog (Andre Dubus III)
-Seventeen Poisoned Englishmen (Gabriel Garcia Maruez)
-The Mirrow of Ink (Jorge Luis Borges)

3. I'm trying to be "different" from my own previous titles . Its fun and cool. I think its okay.

Terima kasih En.Jiwa.(Banyak-banyak)

I especially like
'the sword of soreness is slashing my soul'.

Read your Malay poem in Sunday's paper. Like that one ,too!

P/S: How I wish I could publish my poems. Can you guide and show me the way?

Puan Shima,

1.I write from my heart too, as you do. Good, if you'd read my Malay poem in Berita Minggu.

2.Ah, I don't have the answer. I write the poems, do some editing and post them to the editor. So many of them are rejected. I keep on submitting and wait. I don't care. Its nothing to lose. Those rejected poems are still mine.

3.I don't think any other way to get published. I've read many of your poems in Bahasa or in English. Frankly, you write very very well.

Thanks for your interest. And it's very rewarding.

Happy poeming!

"I unlock the door of the heart" If only doing so were easy! :-)

ufukhati said...

Christine,

"Unlock the door of the heart" leads to the opening of the mind!

I still remember the "Door" you previously posted.

Thanks for the remarks.

Thanks for the inspiring words.

Pak Darma,
Such an honour to receive the compliment from you. Still trudging along this road till I gain my confidence and I could finally soar. Or do you think my time has actually come?

ufukhati said...

Puan shima,

1. It's OK and keep moving. You're on the highway now. No turning back, please. Organize your thoughts and sharpen your crafts.

2. Yes, your time has come. You've to stay. Two words should be in your hands now : in your right is GRIP and in your left is GRIT. Put them together and you'll be very definite.

Thank you, Shima.

ez,

Terus-terang saya nyatakan bahawa saya menulis semata-mata kerana minat. Perit-pedih kerana kegagalan tak terasa lagi. Saya membaca karya sdr. kerana saya ingin menimba ilmu dan berkongsi pengalaman sdr.

Selamat "Menulis Untuk Kebaikan".
