SINGING WITH A FISH [9]

SKY (2)
I'm searching for your veiled plinth.
Only rain is pouring down in torrents.
Your hanging roof is miraculous and ravishing.
I notice the black and white scars intersect form pole to pole.
Stars parade the concourse of the cosmos.
God, how dare I sleep without being thankful.
By
DARMA MOHAMMAD
[Translated from Bahasa Melayu by the author]
The poem LANGIT (2), [SKY (2)] is taken from may anthology of poems "JANJANG IKTIKAF" published by Dewan Bahasa dan Pustaka, Kuala Lumpur, 2003.
This is the Bahasa Melayu version of the poem.
LANGIT (2)
Aku mencari jenangmu yang terhijab.
Hanya bondong hujan berguguran.
Tuhan, mampukah aku tidur tanpa bersyukur.

Pak Darma,
Another beautiful piece unveils! Reading this somehow reminds me of the time when I travelled alone, to UK transit in Dubai. From the 'sky',as the plane approached the airport, tears ran down profusely when I saw the view of Kaabah, thinking when will i visit Makkah. And that was just the view from the top!

Puan shima,

It's a great pleasure to hear that. In fact you can write better than me. Thanks.

Yes, shima. Makkah is always in my mind. I've been there twice.
Insya Allah, you and your family will be the "guests" of Allah one day.

Wassalam.

pak Darma,

"how dare I sleep without being thankful." This is so beautiful and so deeply true. This is how I so often feel.

Ufu,
Great lines again....yes indeed how can we sleep with being grateful for all god has gifted us with- nature, our body, our mind...

Just read you went twice to Makkah, you really must be blessed. In India many of our family friends visited makkah and I have been to their mini-welcome functions where they share with everyone the dates and other things they bring from there....
:-) I just remembered that

Sdr.scarlet,

Terima kasih atas respons sdr.

Kita sama-samalah meneroka (mentafsir) alam ciptaan Tuhan.

Christine,

Thanks for your impression.

"Sky" is always there. I collect wonderful images from it.

Again, thank you.

ddd,

Value nature, meaning value life.

I'm searching for these :

Where is the boundary of the "sky" and where are the pillars of it? And In English the meaning of the "sky" goes more deeper.

ddd,

You mention about the "dates" earlier. Now is the month of "Ramadhan" in Islamic calendar and we Muslims are fasting. We take "dates" for breaking fast before taking our staple foods.

Thanks for sharing.

Really beautiful. Thank you for sharing. Somehow brought tears to my eyes.

starry nights,

Hai, I'm so sorry.

Why are you so dejected? Or am I wrongly interpreted. On the contrary "happiness" ever induces tears too.

Any how, keep calm.

Thank you.

Pak Darma,

You have a rare gift - you write equally well in both Malay & English. That's why a person like yourself can only be satisfied if you translate your pieces yourself.

To me, this piece is a wake-up call - if those of us blessed with eyes can't appreciate His creations, we're being ungrateful. I work with some tunanetra folks on Saturdays and when i notice how thankful and appreciative they are of their blessings, I feel so puny and inadequate.

Thank you for posting this, Pak Darma. wish I can talk these stuff with you P2P.

Pak Darma,
a good piece and thank you.

Alam ciptaan Tuhan sentiasa menjadi inspirasi didlm semua aspek kehidupan, apa yg lahir dari dalam diri kita sebenarnya adalah yg digerakkan dan dicetuskan dr persekitaran, that's the beauty of art to interpret the beauty of God's Creation

samuru,

Thank you. Nice and sweet.

alah bahasa,

"I like your smile.
I love your praise."

If "demo" come to Kelantan, do please contact "kawe". I am looking forward to meeting "demo" and have a P2P session.

"Kawe" (am) not a translater like "demo". Just "hentam kromo". If I'm not translating my poem myself, who will do it? No one!
I just want to make friends with bloggers inside and outside Malaysia. And it works.

sue,

Indahnya ciptaan Tuhan.

Think nature Remember God.

Selamat menghayati Ramadhan.
